How Do We Keep Our Students Safe and Secure in School?

In light of all of the safety scares in the news lately, this question has come up more than it should ever be. The fact that we should even have to worry about somewhere that some students consider a haven and a sanctuary being unsafe, is something that should fill our nation with shame. When given this assignment, I was so excited to finally give out my opinion on something that is so heavy on my heart. After watching the video, Sandy Hook Victim’s Mother Calls for Commonsense Gun Responsibility Reforms, my entire view point is altered. I used to think that guns were not a problem at all, that it was the people that had the guns that were the problem. Now, I realize that the only way to prevent people who would abuse the power of guns, is to enforce stricter gun rules and regulations. I don't know how someone would go about ultimately deciding who gets to carry a gun and who doesn't, but something needs to be done before more masses of people are affected and more lives are shaken by something so simply fixed by a stricter rule.
